There are countless opportunities to give a gift to someone who is dear to you. The most common ones are birthdays and holidays. But what about all of these other times? When you just want to express your love or appreciation for someone? In times you want to express sorrow or raise spirits in ill health? Or just because you want to let them know you’re thinking of them? Here are some unique gift basket ideas for all the times you want to give a gift to a special someone.

Unique gift basket ideas

There are all kinds of gift basket ideas. One could think of a gift basket with different kinds of food or drinks, arts and crafts and or a relaxation based basket. But what if you combined some of them? For instance a ‘toast to you‘ gift basket, which includes bubbles and some sweet treats to celebrate. Or a ‘game night‘ gift crate, including drinks, snacks and a game to play while enjoying the first two. Foodwise there are more and more options to think about. Such as a ‘gluten-free‘ gift box. For the foodlover who hasn’t tasted all there is under the sun yet. You could also think way outside the box with this ‘zombie annihilation‘ gift box, which consists of a machete, axe, knife, shovel and a can of Spam. There is also the ‘get well medicine cabinet‘, a gift box for those who have been feeling under the weather. It contains all the ingredients to get better soon, such as chicken noodle soup, water and vitamins.

Flowers and gift baskets

The one that is missing above is the flower gift basket of course! If you’re not sure what to give to someone, you can not go wrong with flowers. You could add some flowers to a ‘get well’ care package, due to the positive effect they have on someone’s mood and health. Or turn the ‘game night’ gift box into one suited for a romantic date by adding a batch of roses. You could also give them a unique plant gift by giving them a box of flower bulbs. This way you’ll provide them with a fun and healthy activity to do and the enjoyment of the blooming in spring or summer. You can choose annuals, but perennials will bloom every year if they are taken good care of.

DIY flower box

If you’re a little short on money, you could also make your own DIY flower box. For example a rose box. All you need is a pretty box to put the roses in, some cellophane foil, floral foam, water and a sharp knife. To finish it off you’ll need some decorations such as glitter or a ribbon. Apply the cellophane foil to the inside of the box. All around, so the floral foam won’t soil the box when wet. Cut off excessive foil and put the lid of the box underneath. Cut the floral foam into the size of the box and put it in water for about an hour. After an hour it should be fully soaked and you can put it in the box. Clip the roses to the right length and remove thorns. Put the roses into the floral foam and decorate the box as you wish. This is just one way of how to make your own DIY flower box.
